N.J. cop who died months after shooting to be honored with memorial

“When Deptford Police Officer Robert J. “Bobby” Shisler was shot last year, the community rallied to help the officer, his family and the police department.

When he died of his injuries months later, residents of Deptford and surrounding Gloucester County towns joined the law enforcement community in mourning the 27-year-old officer.

Now, a permanent memorial honoring Shisler — a Deptford native who served four years with his hometown police force — has been created. It will be unveiled in a public ceremony on Sept. 28.

The Gloucester County-based non-profit 4 Heroes Charity, which supports police, fire, military and first responders, developed the idea for the memorial in consultation with the Shisler family.”
